Abu Simbel

Located 4 hours from Aswan, Abu Simbel is the most grand temple in all of Egypt. After being forgotten for centuries, decades-long excavation exposed four beautifully carved statues of Ramesses II, looking out over the Nile River. Due to the creation of Lake Nasser, the entire complex was moved piece by piece, rebuilt in its original form, meticulously preserved for generations to admire.
